A HI-TECH firm which has created a customer loyalty app is to recruit a further 45 workers at its Glasgow headquarters.

Software technology company Swipii has secured a £500,000 regional selective assistance grant from Scottish Enterprise to allow it to expand its existing operations.

The firm currently has 10 employees but over the next year will recruit a further 45 and lease more space at its St Vincent Street office.

The loyalty app – launched in 2014 and which can be used at 563 UK locations – allows shoppers to sign up via a dedicated iPad at participating stores and collect points on each visit by scanning a card, key fob or mobile phone.

Finance Secretary Derek Mackay described Swipii as “an excellent example of a Scottish start-up.”
