UNITY Grill, social enterprise restaurant that will be putting 100 per cent of its profits back in to tackling food poverty, has started renovation work to set up a commercial kitchen.
As part of the refit of the former Pillar Box clothes shop in Ayr, Unity Grill will be offering courses on how to up-cycle wooden pallets into flooring, furniture and decorative items with talented experts and their friendly team.
The courses will be split into four sections starting with flooring, followed by furniture and shelving, decorative and smaller items and the final week will be for women only. The courses will start on May 4 and last for four days.
Social policy student and Unity Grill founder Angela McNay said: “This is a unique opportunity to learn hands-on skills and techniques on how to up-cycle pallets into flooring, furniture and decorative items. We want to show that you can fit out places using reclaimed wood and we want the Unity Grill to be a sustainable restaurant and by re using wood we can help reduce our carbon footprint.”
