HAMILTON Business Improvement District (BID), in partnership with Wild in Art, have organised The BIG Stampede and will transform Hamilton into a sculptural animal kingdom from June 23.

A special Tunnock’s Teacake in the shape of an 8ft high giraffe, weighing 40kg, called Thomas will be heading for the Lanarkshire town with animal friends including Sekhmet the lion and Albert III, a powerful gorilla crafted in a fibre glass space suit with an acrylic helmet – all created by young artist and graphic designer Rae McCulloch, 23, from Stonehouse.

The National:

The event will bring businesses, artists and schools together to create a spectacular and colourful trail which will positively contribute to the economic, social and cultural life of the town. After the trail, the sculptures will go to auction for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Gareth Walker, manager at Hamilton BID, said: “ I have no doubt Rae’s animals will raise funds for charity.”
