BIG-HEARTED animal lovers at a Glasgow PR and communications firm have donated yesterday’s news to give pets a better tomorrow.

Staff at Beattie, the creative communications group, read newspapers every day to monitor for client coverage, and to stay news-savvy at all times. With more than 500 newspapers collected since the start of the year, the old news was starting to mount up.

And when staff heard that the Scottish SPCA Glasgow Rehoming Centre in Cardonald was looking for donations of old newspapers to help insulate beds for its furry residents, they “didn’t paws for thought”.

Beattie Scotland director Joanne Spence, said: “Many of us at Beattie have pets and we’re always keen to help animals in need. When we heard the plea, we didn’t hesitate to make the donation.

“The papers have been a useful tool for us over the last few months, so hopefully they’ll now help cats and dogs feel warmer when they’re settling down for the night.”
