MORE than 500 pupils from Scottish schools learned about enterprise at a festival.

The Festival of Youth Enterprise by Young Enterprise Scotland (YES) – held at Hampden Park on June 5 and 6 – enabled young people to find out more about career options for the future.

Still Game star Sanjeev Kohli, Street Soccer Scotland supremo David Duke MBE and Sylvia Douglas, founder of MsMissMrs – an organisation which aims to empower women – spoke at the event.

In the Company Programme final Estrela – a group of young people from Kirkwall Grammar School in Orkney – was named Company of the Year.

Inspired by Orcadian heritage and culture, the group of sixth year pupils manufactured a battery-operated, remote-controlled LED light designed for the home.

YES chief executive, Geoff Leask, said: “We’re very proud to be involved in helping young people make the connections they need.”
