BRICK by brick the Brexit dream is being dismantled before our eyes and yesterday’s comments by the Australian trade minister Steve Ciobo – that the post-Brexit pipe dream that the UK will have “wonderful” trade deals with countries all over the world is a non-starter as far as his country is concerned – quickens the process dramatically.

The fact that New Zealand, Brazil, the US and Canada are also very dubious should be of major concern to May and co, but unfortunately it seems it is business as usual inside the No 10 bunker as she plods on, essentially banging her head against a wall trying desperately to get Tusk to let her move on to stage two of negotiations.

It appears she and the rest of the liars and charlatans that make up her Cabinet are so engrossed in behind-the-scenes pleading and grovelling to Brussels that they were blindsided by this announcement from the Aussies.

Again, one is left scratching one’s head in utter incredulity at the sheer stupidity of this whole fiasco, and it is totally unbelievable that she is prepared to destroy this country just to cling on to power and satisfy the rabid minority in her party. May is coming dangerously close to a dereliction of duty if she continues to march this country (Scotland) against its will into the abyss, and it merely makes the case for independence all the more attractive.

How many more setbacks will it take for the country as a whole to take to the streets to voice their utter rejection of this government and its narrow, selfish agenda? I can’t wait to hear Liam Fox trying to weasel his way out of this disaster.

It cannot be too long now for people to react in more than a shoulder-shrugging way. The most recent poll shows, at last, that the tide of public opinion is swinging quickly towards Remain, and no amount of scaremongering and threatening headlines from the gutter, right-wing press will stem the tide.

In fact, we might even be treated to the sight of Colonel Davidson having to admit the balloon has gone up. Can’t wait. In the meantime, however, we will be forced to suffer the pitiful sight of May, Davis and Johnson lying their way unconvincingly, to parliament, the country and the rest of the world, while the truth of the situation is made crystal clear by Tusk, Barnier et al.

I am not for a minute blinded into thinking that the EU is a perfect set-up but compared to the mess that May is causing all in the name of Conservatism, it really is a no-brainer as to which side of the fence I, and a great majority of my Scottish countrymen and women would want to be on. It really is time for Nicola to call time on this fiasco before Scotland is dragged out of the EU and forced to be forever beholden to a Westminster establishment that cares not a jot for us and our children’s future.

Wake up, citizens of Scotia, and demand independence from this rotten establishment-driven society.

A YEAR on, the UK Government has still failed to produce any details on how to keep a soft EU border for Northern Ireland. They now have little more than a week to lay out, negotiate and agree binding terms on the financial settlement, citizen’s rights, movement of labour and the Irish border if trade talks are to begin soon.

Even if they perform this miracle it would be surprising if they are anywhere near ready for the business of dividing up existing trade agreements that the EU as a whole has with other countries, for example free trade agreements with Japan, South Korea, Peru, South Africa, etc that include whisky, not to mention internal matters such as farming and fishing.
