GOOD to see that Richard Leonard is so positively in agreement with the SNP in their dislike of the PFI contracts that Labour tied us into. Can we now expect him to co-operate with the SNP and tell them where to find the magic money tree to buy out more of these rip-offs, as they have already done with the Skye and Forth Bridge tolls, for example?

Unfortunately, it seems that Mr Leonard is still not quite up to speed on a number of things about Scotland – our separate legal system having been one. He appeared on TV a few days ago talking to some young folk about the exorbitant cost of private rents and opined that there was need of action to put a stop to unreasonably high rent rises. Does he not know that legislation addressing this and related problems for tenants was passed by the SNP government and came into operation on December 1, 2017?

Ah well, given time, perhaps he will learn a bit more about the country he purports to represent. There are some excellent learning sessions being run by various local councils about this new legislation – he might be interested in applying for a place at one!

MONDAY night’s STV Scotland Tonight was the most blatant example of media bias I have seen so far in this campaign. Their first item allowed two Labour stalwarts, Frank McAveety and Ian Davidson, to attack the SNP and its policies under the guise of being a discussion about whether or not Labour would reach a post-election agreement with the SNP. The second item was an examination of tactical voting with another Labour veteran, Pauline Mclean, a woman who has set up a website to help people to vote tactically against the SNP, and a Unionist Guardian reporter. The presenter stuck to her script and in both items allowed the participants free reign to attack the SNP, who were given no opportunity to respond.
