INTERESTING to read the Long Letter by Frances Smith (The National, March 12).

Ever since Donald Trump first helicoptered in to Turnberry over the greenfields of South Ayrshire I have had fears.

I imagined eyes with dollar signs looking down and sizing up the potential of all that prime “real estate”. I pictured the US land/property investors all lined up ready for a Brexit free-for-all when Trump blows the whistle – ready to pile in to Scotland-for-sale. I worry how long it will be till grazing cows and sheep and the greenfields are gone from South Ayrshire never to be seen again – all concreted over into hotels, golf resorts, casinos, holiday themeparks/luxury home developments/factory-style agribusinesses.

Those are my fears for South Ayrshire post-Brexit. So it’s a shock to learn of these South Ayrshire depredations already under way. As Trump himself would say – sad!
