BLOGGER Pam Gilmore, of Glasgow FoodGeek, has made her mark on the fashion scene by launching clothing and lifestyle brand FoodGeek Apparel.
Gilmore founded her successful blog back in 2014. The Glasgow Food Geek website was born out of a move to the city’s West End and a desire to document the vibrant food scene Glasgow has to offer.
A mere three years down the line, the Scottish blogger has captured the attention of a staggering 12 thousand Instagram followers.
Last year, Gilmore took her blogging career to the next level by launching her very own clothing brand.
The move into fashion was not only perceived as a natural extension of her successful food blog but a reflection of Gilmore’s interest in fashion.
“I have always loved fashion and style, and slogan sweaters in particular,” she says. “I spotted a real gap in the market for food-inspired slogan sweaters, so decided – with a little encouragement from my husband – just to give it a go.”
The label offers a collection of tongue-in-cheek t shirts, sweaters and accessories with a food theme.
Resonating with the social-media savvy generations, each of the selected slogans were made famous through platforms such as Instagram due to their “hashtag appeal”.
“Importantly, this collection is for everyone and really captures a lifestyle that many of us are living both in terms of our relationship with social media, alongside brunching with our best friends – this range adds a bit of fun to this and I like to think that the Food Geek Apparel range could be sitting in brunch spots across the country.”
True to her word, the collection Gilmore, pictured below, designed is a projection of the nuances of the social lives and enjoyments of the 20-to-60-something.
These social activities include eating out with friends, brunching or drinking a gin and tonic.
Gilmore says: “I would like there to be a bit of a cult brand recognition with the name FoodGeek Apparel.
“I would like to keep the independent business vibe that I currently have, and would like to have a range of stockists who are independent and have a great feel to them.”
