BRIDAL and headpiece specialists Polly & Bella are newly launched to offer fashion forward, luxurious accessories.
The brand was established in May by designers Polly Edwards and Kirsteen Connell, both of whom have years of experience making headdresses.
Despite originally training as a fashion designer, Edwards found a passion for the headdress and went on to specialise in millinery. Having worked for designers such as Sassi Holford and Jenny Packham, her designs have made waves within the bridal industry and her headpieces have been worn by celebrities such as Darcey Bussell and Anastasia.
Connell, on the other hand, originally worked in marketing, but decided to train in jewellery design after struggling to find a headpiece for her wedding day. She has since run two brands, Bella Brilla and Twinkle Twinkle Tiaras, and is using her knowledge attained over the past 10 years to further the duo’s new label.
Connell says: “Our latest label is specifically designed for the luxury market, incorporating over 35 years of our experience for brides who are looking for something unique and stylish, appreciating the workmanship and design detailing of our pieces.”
The brand’s opening collection, entitled First Water, was inspired by a 17th-century term used within the jewellery industry that referred to gemstones of the highest quality which were often likened to the clearest drop of water.
Each headpiece in the range has been handmade in the UK using Swarovski Innovation Crystals.
Connell explains: “The First Water collection celebrates colour, shape and form. It is bold and beautiful, featuring Kaputt stones designed with Jean Paul Gautier in mind and colours that reflect the botanical aspect of weddings. Teardrop Swarovski crystals feature heavily for a romantic softening, bringing in the natural colours of the environment in pale blues.”
Prices for the collection start at £225 and can be purchased at www.pollyandbella.co.uk.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
