Posh Pawn (C4, 7pm)
THE series exploring the world of high-end pawnbroking returns, as more customers have their treasured belongings valued, but will the sums be as potentially life-changing as they hoped? And is January too soon for the super-rich to be trying to offload a generous but unwanted Christmas present? Prestige Pawnbrokers boss James is certainly excited about one item this week as he checks out an E-Type Jaguar worth more than £100,000. Memorabilia expert Lawrence’s and his car knowledge is also put to the test, and he faces another challenge in Hertfordshire as he appraises some unusual artwork.

Call the Midwife (BBC1, 8pm)
IT was a white Christmas in Poplar last month, as the festive special of the hit drama saw the midwives dealing with the notorious winter of 1962-3. The big freeze is still ongoing as this new series begins – and it also means that new midwife Lucille (Leonie Elliott) is two days late to work. If that wasn’t enough of an inauspicious start, she falls ill but has to get up from her sick bed to assist Trixie as she deals with a pregnant exotic dancer whose rare blood type might cause problems for her baby.

McMafia (BBC1, 9pm)
ALEX believes Vadim is still a threat despite Semiyon’s fortunes continuing to rise – until he is arrested in Tel Aviv. This new development disrupts Alex and Rebecca’s engagement celebrations, forcing him to fly out to Israel to try to resolve the crisis. However, Semiyon’s plight presents Lyudmilla with fresh hope and she seeks to use this opportunity to regain freedom.
