A COLLABORATION between The Irish Film Institute and Glasgow Film Festival, The Near Shore: A Scottish and Irish Cine-Concert, is a programme of silent films by filmmakers from Scotland and Ireland presented with live accompaniment at Glasgow’s Trades Hall on February 25 and Dundee Contemporary Arts on February 26.

Folk trio Patrick Carayannis, Rodney Lancashire and Seamus Hernon will accompany The Farm Below The Mountain by Scott Ernest Tiernan while acclaimed improv pianist Paul G Smyth will play to a programme of short films, including Ireland By Air, starring Scottish aviatrix Winnie Drinkwater, the rarely seen science fiction works of aristocrat Desmond Leslie and Butlins holiday camp films by John Tomkins.
