The Crystal Maze Channel 4, 8pm

MAZE Master Richard Ayoade is back with his Golden Hand to present the latest episode of the revamped game show and guide another team through the Aztec, Medieval, Industrial and Future zones. While there, the plucky contestants have to tackle a range of skill, mystery, physical and mental challenges set by the likes of the Computer, the Knight and the Riddle Master to win seconds in the Crystal Dome. Tonight’s contenders are the Holmes Family.

BBC Proms 2018 BBC4, 8pm & 11pm

A DOUBLE-BILL of performances from the Royal Albert Hall begins with a Prom that celebrates the folk music scene in Britain and Ireland. The BBC Concert Orchestra, under conductor Stephen Bell, collaborates with some of the folk world’s leading musicians including singers Julie Fowlis, Jarlath Henderson and Sam Lee, and folk groups Alaw and The Unthanks. Then, a Caribbean spirit pulses through the Late Night Prom, introduced by David Rodigan. Led by leading reggae and dancehall producer Mista Savona, Cuban and Jamaican musicians unite in an evening of roots reggae, dub and salsa. Featured vocalists include Randy Valentine, Brenda Navarette and Solis.

Jane McDonald & Friends Channel 5, 9pm

THE host is joined by guests one-time X Factor winner Alexandra Burke, former Coronation Street star Hayley Tamaddon and ex-Casualty and Holby City regular Tom Chambers as she sings some of her favourite songs. Both Tom and Alexandra have graced Strictly in the past, so their contribution might well turn out to be on the dance floor rather than at the microphone.

Gardeners’ World BBC2, 9pm

WITH one of the driest summers in years, Monty Don responds to viewers’ questions on how to contend with drought conditions. Carol Klein celebrates flamboyant summer shrub the hydrangea, Joe Swift views a garden that has tranquillity at its heart, and there is a return visit to Adam Frost’s garden, where he offers tips on how to plant up a seating area. Nick Bailey concludes his guide to roses, and there is a look at a garden planted up on a tiny budget.
