Proms Extra, BBC2, 6.50pm

GREAT works of art don’t always win the masses over straight away. They can take time to grow on an audience. Such was the case with Claude Debussy’s La Mer, which made its debut in Paris in 1905. Even fans of the composer weren’t swept away by his work. However, by 1908, it was regarded as one of his finest pieces. There’s a chance to find out more about it in this show. Also under discussion are Ravel’s Concerto for the Left Hand and Grieg’s Piano Concerto. Katie Derham is joined by David Owen Norris, who reveals his chord of the week, and closing what promises to be a mesmerising show is a performance by Lauren Zhang.
