Horizon: A Week Without Lying – The Honesty Experiment BBC2, 9pm
IN a radical experiment, pioneering scientists from across Europe have come together to use new technology to explore what our world would look like if we could not tell lies. Three British contributors are rigged to make it impossible for them to lie undetected, and are challenged to live for a week without telling a single lie. This bold social experiment sets out to discover the role of deception, and to investigate the impact lying has on our mental state and its consequences for our relationships.

Hang Ups, C4, 10pm
THE loose remake of Lisa Kudrow’s Emmy-award winning comedy Web Therapy continues, with online therapist Richard’s (Stephen Mangan) hard-drinking mother Maggie (Celia Imrie) moving into the Pitt family home and her presence only adding to the already technology-fuelled havoc. Meanwhile, rather than suggesting even more odd ways for Richard to cope with the stress of his overbearing father, his therapist Leonard Conrad (Richard E Grant) this time brings his own crisis to work.

WOULD you marry a stranger who had been picked out by relationship experts and who wouldn’t be introduced to you until the day of the wedding – which is going to be shown on national TV? It seems a lot of people are willing to consider it, as not only is there a British version of Married at First Sight, but the American take on the series is now on its sixth season. This time, all the singletons are from Boston, but will they all be brave enough to go through with the vows, or will any of them get cold feet?

Shop Well for Less? BBC1, 8pm
THE latest run of Eat Well for Less? ended a few weeks ago, but Alex Jones and Steph McGovern are here to fill the gap with this sister show. In the first episode they meet the Ingram family, who are struggling to cope financially after having two sets of twins in less than two years. A desire for big brands is crippling finances, so to get spending down, their belongings are replaced with alternatives disguised in plain packaging.
