IS there any worse manifestation of the arrogance of British empire mentality than the Westminster government declaring it illegal to return the “Elgin” marbles that were misappropriated from the Parthenon in Athens?

It is claimed these objects are part of British history and rightfully belong in the British Museum.

How absurd. These objects clearly and morally belong to Greece. We should be returning these “purloined” treasures to the land of their origin. We have the technology to replicate these objects, and those replicas should be displayed here. But these objects should be returned to Greece.

Isn’t this despicable arrogance of England’s “British” empire the very reason why Scotland needs to disassociate itself with it? Our standards are higher.

Britain justifies the theft of the Parthenon marbles; I just feel ashamed to be deemed British.
