HORROR fans will get the chills next month as an indoor snow slope becomes a cinema.

Snow Factor in Renfrew is to host a one-off screening of John Carpenter’s The Thing next month to mark 35 years since its release.

Set in an Antarctic research station, the Kurt Russell classic sees a tight-knit team struggle to cope as it emerges something malevolent has breached their compound – and one of them may no longer be who they appear.

Fans of the 1982 release are advised to “wrap-up warm” for the event, which will take place on the snow slope as part of Glasgow Film Festival (GFF) next month.

Details emerged as the full programme for the annual cinema celebration was unveiled.

It will also see Scots crime writer Christopher Brookmyre introduce Cajun noir classic The Big Easy and includes the world premiere of Benny, which tells the story of Scots boxer Benny Lynch.

Terrence Malick’s “visually astonishing” Voyage of Time: Life’s Journey, narrated by Cate Blanchett, also features, as does a “dog-friendly” showing of new animation Rock Dog.

Director Ben Wheatley will bring his shoot-em-up Free Fire to Scotland for the event, with Kristen Stewart thriller Personal Shopper also on the programme.

Work from 38 countries will be shown, including a German adaptation of dark comedy Original Bliss, written by Scots author AL Kennedy. More than 60 UK premieres will take place.
