ROBERT Rowan, the 26-year-old head of football operations at English Championship club Brentford, is being considered for the new director of football role at Rangers.

Officials of the Ibrox club are believed to have spoken to Rowan about the prospect of him becoming a part of their new coaching structure at Auchenhowie.

The Scot was previously technical director at Stenhousemuir and has held scouting roles with Celtic and the Scottish Football Association in the past.

Rangers are speaking to potential candidates for their vacant manager’s position and for the new director of football role this week.

Former Rangers defender Craig Moore has also been linked to the director of football post, with Alex McLeish, Billy Davies, Alan Pardew and Derek McInnes among the favourites to take over as manager.
