In The Dark We Live by Tempest Brewing

This is a confusing and contradictory beer. Once poured, no light will pass through your glass: it is solid black. On the nose though it’s a much lighter beast, giving of pine-fresh raspberries and nutmeg. On the palate the flavours threaten to overwhelm. Liquorice, mango, blackcurrant and chocolate all dance together before stepping off to a lingering smoky bacon finish. An impressive brew, not to be taken lightly. Try it with pulled pork or a mature Scottish cheddar.

Death Two by Deadend Brew Machine

This 6.7% IPA, Deadend Brew Machine’s second beer, has been aged on mountains of passion fruit and mango and it shows. Not only does the fruit translate on to both nose and palate but so does the sheer juiciness. The first sip is instantly thirst-quenching. This isn’t just for those with a sweet tooth though – there is also a very distinct and refreshing bitter orange finish and the faintest hint of tangy lime zest. Try it with fresh seabass or a citrus sorbet.
