STILLS for a new £10.5 million whisky distillery have been lowered into place by the River Clyde.

The Glasgow project will see the historic pump house between the Riverside Museum and Hydro Arena turned into a production centre and visitor attraction.

Morrison Glasgow Distillers expect it to attract 65,000 people when it opens in the autumn.

Commercial director Andrew Morrison said: “We’ve had a longstanding vision to build a whisky distillery on the banks of the Clyde and with the stills now in place the project is even closer to fruition.

“Glasgow was once home to numerous whisky distilleries and we think The Clydeside Distillery will put Glasgow right back on the Scotch whisky map.”
