A MUSIC festival is bidding to set a new world record for the greatest number of unicorns in one place.

Knockengorroch World Ceilidh Music Festival has adopted a unicorn theme for this year’s event, taking place from May 25 to 28 in the Galloway hills of south-west Scotland.

The record attempt, which has been registered with and accredited by the Guinness Book of Records, will see festival-goers wearing horns on their heads to emulate Scotland’s national animal counted by an official adjudicator.

The four-day, family friendly festival programme includes music from Scotland and across the world, with a strong emphasis on traditional and roots music.

Confirmed acts include Scots Trad Music Award-winners RURA, self-described “gyp-step” group Molotov Jukebox, Jamaican reggae singer Max Romeo and nine-piece Mancunian hip hop band The Mouse Outfit.
