AN exclusive exhibition celebrating the man behind Scotland’s famous ‘The Monarch of the Glen’ portrait has been launched at the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian hotel.

The special collection of paintings and contemporary prints, created especially for the hotel by art consultants ARTIQ, is now on display in Peacock Alley and it explores the man behind the paintings, acknowledging Sir Edwin Henry Landseer’s struggles with depression that accompanied his fame.

Landseer’s monumental depiction of a royal stag has drawn attention recently following its sale and fundraising efforts to save the painting by the National Gallery of Scotland and Scottish Government.
