PARTICK Thistle defender Liam Lindsay’s future is still up in the air after the 21-year-old rejected a move to Oxford United over the weekend.

Lindsay travelled south to discuss terms with the English League One club last week after a fee of £350,000 plus add-ons was agreed between the clubs.

But Lindsay is believed to have been put off the move due to uncertainty over the future of Oxford manager Michael Appleton, who has been linked with a move to take the assistant manager’s position at Leicester City.

English Championship side Barnsley put in a slightly improved offer for the centre-half towards the end of last week, which has also been accepted by the Firhill club, and the defender now faces a decision over his future.

He has not ruled out staying with Thistle for another season, despite the interest from England, but the Firhill club expect further enquiries for his services over the coming days.
