CORNERSTONE chief executive Edel Harris has been named EY Scotland Entrepreneur of the Year.

The Aberdeen-based social care provider has grown by £10 million during Harris’s nine years in charge and now employs 2,200 staff.

Also awarding her the Build a Better World prize, judges at the Gleneagles ceremony said her work, which includes the creation of homes for people with autism, “has the potential to change the world”.

Annie Graham, of EY, said: “Edel Harris is an entrepreneur with wow factor. Her passion, drive and strategic mindset have made a significant impact. She is a shining example of Scotland’s vibrant entrepreneurial community.”

Magnus Houston of Inverness fish supplier Coast & Glen, took home the Rising Star award.
