GREG Tansey says Aberdeen are ready to move on from the European heartbreak they suffered in Cyprus last Thursday at Apollon Limassol.
But they responded in positive fashion to their Europa League dumping against Hamilton on Sunday when they kicked off the Premiership season with a 2-0 win at Pittodrie.
"I think the only way to deal with the disappointment of the European game was to bounce back on the pitch," the midfielder said.
"It's all about getting points on the board and that's the only way to bounce back after a loss.
'We care as players and it's only natural that everyone was hurting after Thursday – we still are. But picking up three points up on the pitch is the best way to respond."
Accies will have a swift shot at revenge as they now host Derek McInnes' team at the SuperSeal Stadium in tomorrow's Betfred Cup last-16 showdown.
But Tansey is determined to make strides in the competition after tasting the jubilation of a cup win during his days as an Inverness player.
Tansey, who swapped the Highland capital for the Granite City this summer, lifted the William Hill Scottish Cup in 2015 and would love to achieve a similar feat as a Don.
He said: "I am sure the experience of last season in the cup finals will push the boys on even more this season."
We wanted to make a statement in the league with a win early and we've now got a cup match against Hamilton, which we know won't be easy.
"Every team has a different make-up to them and Hamilton certainly work hard for each other and put themselves about and that's how they have done well in recent seasons.
"It's certainly no easy place to go when you go to Hamilton away. I experienced that as an Inverness player and I also remember watching the Aberdeen games there last season.
"But we as a team feel we have the ability in the squad to go anywhere and do well.
"You come to a club like this and you want to be involved in cup semi-finals and finals so both cups are massive.
"I've had some nice experiences and not so nice experiences in the cup. The year before we won the Scottish Cup at Inverness I had a not so nice experience losing to Aberdeen in the League Cup.
"I believe that pushed us on at the time to win the cup the following year. I am sure the experience of last season in the cup finals will push the boys on even more this season."
