ANDY Robertson feels on “top of the world” at the moment but would love to go to Russia with Scotland.
The 23-year-old left-back completed a glamour move from Hull to Liverpool for a reported fee of £8million in July, then became a father to son Rocco last week
The former Queen’s Park and Dundee United defender is in Vilnius for the Scots’ crunch World Cup qualifier against Lithuania on Friday night where victory is required to keep hopes of making the finals next summer.
While admitting he was in a good place personally, Robertson is looking for even more good times with the national team.
He said: “There comes a time in life when things have to change, think about having kids and me and my partner did that and with that came a move to a massive club.
“I am on top of the world just now. I am relishing it and loving where I am at with the club and where I am with my family.
“Everyone wants to get the country back to big finals and that will be our my aim.
“We have four games left and the players, managers and staff will be working towards that and if we can do that it will give the country a lift.
“We are looking to get maximum points and if we do that we will see where we stand.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
