FORMER British and Irish Lions prop Ryan Grant has returned to Glasgow following a brief spell in the Aviva Premiership.

The 31-year-old only left Scotstoun in January for Worcester and has rejoined on what the club described as a “short-term deal”.

The loosehead prop made 109 appearances in his first spell for the club and left for the other Warriors vowing to rediscover his best form after missing large parts of 2016 with arm and back injuries.

The 25-times capped Scotland international said: “The opportunity to come up here is one I took with both hands.

“Not many players are lucky enough to come back here after they leave, I consider myself very lucky to have already played over 100 times for the club and hopefully I can add to that.

“It was good to spend a little while playing in the Premiership in England, learning different techniques from different coaches, but it also made me appreciate what a great club Glasgow is and I’m grateful to be back.”

Grant will not be involved when Dave Rennie’s side host Treviso today as they bid to continue their winning start to the Guinness PRO14 season.

Rennie has made nine changes as the Italians travel to Scotstoun on the back of consecutive wins over Edinburgh and Ospreys.

Tommy Seymour will start on the wing while Sam Johnson comes into the back division at centre and Peter Horne moves to fly-half with Finn Russell dropping out after breaking his nose in the victory over Munster.

Scrum-half Henry Pyrgos also comes in along with forwards Alex Allan, D’Arcy Rae, Pat MacArthur, Brian Alainu’uese, Rob Harley and Chris Fusaro.

Back-row forward Matt Fagerson could feature off the bench after signing a professional contract with the club.

The 19-year-old has agreed a deal until 2020 to join his brother Zander in the Warriors professional ranks.

He said: “Signing with the Glasgow Warriors is a dream come true. It’s awesome.”
