THERESA May’s keynote speech to Tory party conference was interrupted by a prankster hadning the beleagured Prime Minister a mock p45.

The heckler, named as the comedian Simon Brodkin, known for photobombing speeches by Donald Trump and Sepp Blatter, walked to the front of the stage and handed the Prime Minister a piece of paper with the word P45 in large letters, saying it had come from Boris Johnson

To the delight of the press photographers right in front on her, May took the piece of paper off Brodkin, and continued her speech.

But Brodkin, who sometimes performs as Lee Nelson, and who appeared to have official credentials, then turned to Johnson and spoke to the foreign secretary for 30 seconds. The media scramble made it impossible for May to continue.

To cheers of “out, out, out” from the party faithful, the comedian was finally huckled from the building by a security team who seemed initially slow to react.

He shouted “Boris told me to do it,” as he left.

May recovered, saying she wanted to give Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn his P45.

A picture of the P45 showed the “reason for termination” as “neither strong nor stable” and “we’re a bit worried about Jezza”.

It was a nightmare speech from May, who repeatedly lost her voice, and struggled to speak.

Towards the end the set started to fall apart, with the F falling off the for in the motto plastered on the wall behind her.
