POLICE are keen to trace three people who were in the Renfrewshire area at the time of an attempted murder.

In the incident, a 42-year-old man was confronted by an attacker who fired a weapon at him at his home in Glasgow Road, Paisley. Several people were in the area at the time and detectives have appealed for them to get in touch.

One man is described as tall, with dark hair in a bun. He had a dark beard and was wearing a light jacket, with slim-fitting black jeans and dark training shoes. He was carrying a rucksack.

Two women were also in the area around the time of the incident. One was walking a white dog, possibly a bichon frise. She is described as in her late 40s to early 50s, and of slim build with fair hair. She was wearing a knee-length jacket, belted at the waist, with a fur hood.

The other woman was in her late 30s to early 40s and of slim build with brown, wavy, shoulder-length hair. She was wearing a light jacket, jeans and trainers and was walking a dog, possibly a terrier breed.

Police have identified two vehicles and are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the cars.

The first, a silver Ford Focus, was found burnt out in Arkleston Road, near the cemetery, a short time after the attempted murder.

Police believe it was stolen from Somerville Place, Helensburgh, between September 13 and 14.

The second car is a dark grey Audi A1 which has yet to be traced and may have been stolen from the Cardross area between September 11 and 12.
