LANDLORDS have welcomed the creation of a website which allows them to create tenancy agreements that comply with new legislation.

The Scottish Association of Landlords (SAL) believes the Scottish Government site, launched today, will make it easier to comply with the requirements for new tenancy agreements from December 1.

The website allows landlords to create tenancy agreements that contain clauses “required” under the new legislation.

It will allow them to add or remove correctly drafted “optional” clauses as required, ensuring all tenancies created using the site are fully compliant with new rules.

SAL chief executive John Blackwood said: “We have worked closely with the Scottish Government, housing charities, tenant groups and others to ensure the new tenancy agreement legislation strikes the right balance which will help the private rented sector to grow whilst encouraging responsible landlords and protecting the rights of tenants.”

Housing Minister Kevin Stewart will officially launch the website at a conference in

Edinburgh today.

He said: “It is an important tool, helping landlords to fulfil the new responsibilities and duties that will come into force on December 1.”
