KEZIA Dugdale is set to make her first appearance on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here tonight, in a task that will see her crawl through fish guts piled into a tank labelled "Sickola Sturgeon".
Footage put out by ITV ahead of tonight’s programme, show the former Scottish Labour leader on hands and knees, battling against fellow new campmate, Iain Lee, to find a star in the Bushtucker Trial.
While Lee, a DJ and presenter, manages to find the prize in his cage of fish innards, and progress on to the next box filled with cockroaches and crickets, Dugdale is left behind.
The clip then shows Lee managing to find the next star and squeezing through to a cage filled with cane toads and spiders, labelled Theresa Dismay.
Dugdale however, remains stuck with the fish and animal insides, furiously searching.
Other contestants, including Boris Johnson's Dad, Stanley, and Made In Chelsea star Georgia "Toff" Toffolo cheer her on.
The clip appeared after in an article written by Dugdale for the Daily Record, published this morning, the MSP claimed being on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here would be an “amazing opportunity” to “talk about Labour values and the difference they could make in practice.”
“I can hear the cynics out there say ‘nice try’ or ‘who is she kidding?’ People who, when they think about politicians on light entertainment TV programmes, can only picture George Galloway in a catsuit supping milk or Ann Widdecombe being thrown across a Blackpool ballroom," she wrote.
“But just as I will try to get my views across and the outlook of hundreds of thousands of folks like me, it’s also a chance for people to see politicians in a different light. To see them as humans. With the same phobias and cravings.
“To see them laugh and cry. To see how they handle a bit of pressure and adversity.
“Beginning to like our politicians again, or at the very least laugh with them, is surely only a force for good in this increasingly difficult and depressing world?"
In her column Dudgale also praises the Scottish Government’s white paper on independence, describing the time her partner, the SNP MSP Jenny Gilruth used it to squash a spider.
