NIGEL Farage has suggested that a second EU referendum should be held after all - to silence "moaning" Remainers.

Speaking on the Wright Stuff, he said that "Maybe, just maybe, I'm reaching the point of thinking that we should have a second referendum on EU membership.

"I think if we had a second referendum on EU membership we would kill it off for a generation."

Farage concluded that another referendum would see Leave gain an even larger percentage of the vote, though many recent opinion polls actually show a majority of Britons now back remaining in the EU.

A poll published by the Independent in December showed the largest gap recorded between Leave and Remain, with support for staying in the EU ten points ahead of leaving.
