JEREMY Corbyn is to deliver the keynote speech at Labour's Scottish conference as it kicks off in Dundee today – but extracts released ahead of the address revealed an embarrassing blunder.

The party leader is to tell those attending about his hopes for Labour north of the Border in the next General Election.

The extracts reveal Corbyn is to say: "We won six seats for Scottish Labour at the last general election, and we are on the cusp of winning in around 20 more."

Labour actually won seven Scottish seats in last year's General Election.

It was unclear whether he was attempting to refer to gains, with Ian Murray having held his Edinburgh South seat.

Murray has been a vocal critic of Corbyn, and was among those to form a group within the Scottish wing of the party campaigning to stay in the single market.

SNP MSP George Adam said: “Scottish Labour’s MPs have made such little impact that Corbyn doesn’t even know how many there are.

"Once more it’s completely obvious that Corbyn doesn’t pay the slightest attention to Scotland.”

Scottish Conservative deputy leader Jackson Carlaw similarly hit out at Corbyn, adding: "Even with just a handful of Scottish Labour MPs Jeremy Corbyn can’t get the number right.

"This blunder shows exactly how much attention he pays to events north of the Border, and the Scottish Labour branch office.

"He can’t have been much of a secret agent when he gets muddled up on simple arithmetic like this."
