WE know the UK Tories openly display their contempt for Scotland, but you'd think they would treat potential donors with a bit more respect ... it seems not.
Twitter user @LauraAMcCormack shared a photo of a letter delivered to her elderly neighbours, which was intended to thank them for supporting a Conservative Government and included a donation form.
The letter was signed by Prime Minister Theresa May, and also talked about the importance of "making a success of Brexit".
Perhaps the first priority for Tory HQ should be making a success of mailmerge, as the message was addressed to "Mr Youmustbe Fuckingjoking".
And it opened: "Dear Mr Fuckingjoking, thanks to your support, our Conservative Government is building a Britain that is fit for the future."
Trying to argue they can run the country when they can’t even work mailmerge. My elderly neighbours were more than a little upset to be addressed in this manner by the PM #youmustbefuckingjoking pic.twitter.com/dCHjRZFcMq

To add insult to injury the @Conservatives then had the cheek to ask for cash! pic.twitter.com/jA14qUY0Vg

How none of the Tory team spotted the error, had it filtered, or even got it wrong in the first place is still unclear.
The Tories have yet to apologise to the couple in question, but a spokesman said: “It is unacceptable that this letter was sent out and we apologize for any offence caused.
"We are currently investigating this matter to ensure it does not happen again.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
