THE streets of Barcelona were turned yellow yesterday as hundreds of thousands of protesters marched through Catalonia's capital in solidarity with political prisoners and exiled politicians.

The Space, Democracy and Coexistence demonstration was the biggest of the political crisis yet – with estimates of 750,000 from organisers, and 350,000 from police.

Saltires were flying alongside the Catalan Estelada in a peaceful march through the city, sending a clear message to Spain – that it wouldn't get away with trampling on Catalonia's democracy.
