LOVE him or hate him, most folk couldn't deny that David Torrance is a well kent face on the Scottish political landscape.

However, that may be about to change.

Torrance announced on Twitter this morning that he would be leaving journalism after 18 years for a "career change".

Alongside an article for his final Herald opinion piece, Torrance said: "After 18 years as a journalist I'm having a career change; It has, of course, been a privilege, but also fun & fascinating."

While he hasn't yet announced what his new position is, he has stated that the "new job means I won't be able to Tweet as freely as before."

There was a mixed response online.
