The National:

MANUFACTURING outrage doesn't always pay off – as the Tories very painfully found out at First Minister's Questions.

Saying this week that baby boxes weren't as safe as claimed, the Tories decided to press Nicola Sturgeon on the issue at FMQs.

Miles Briggs said: "Yesterday we learned that one of the world’s leading experts on cot deaths, and a Scottish Government adviser on them, raised significant safety concerns about the safety of the baby box scheme.

"We also learned for the first time that he raised these extremely serious concerns early last year. Will the FM agree to set out in full all the advice the government has received from experts, and confirme whether they have been accredited in full?"

The start of the First Minister's answer bode well for the Tories: “I saw Miles Briggs tweet this morning calling for all of the safety accreditation to be published – that was done months ago, and I don’t believe Miles Briggs doesn’t know that, so the question therefore is why he is trying to wilfully mislead people about that."

But... it got worse. Miles Briggs was thoroughly telt. And trust us, it's worth sticking around for the full clip.

And social media users weren't slow in calling him out either.
