AN international law firm has been appointed as a partner to Scotland’s financial technology sector (fintech) body.

Pinsent Masons will sit on the board of FinTech Scotland as a global strategic partner.

Established by the Scottish Government, the financial services sector and the University of Edinburgh, FinTech Scotland is tasked with formulating a national strategy and delivering initiatives to boost the sector.

Over the last decade Scotland’s fintech sector attracted £37 million of investment.

Pinsent Masons partner and financial services technology specialist Yvonne Dunn said that the race is on to increase fintech presence outside of London. She added: “Scotland has a lot to offer based on the large financial services institutions already established here, our general culture of entrepreneurism and the strength of our universities.”

FinTech Scotland has already announced Deloitte, Dentsu Aegis Network and Sopra Steria as strategic partners.
