THOUSANDS have taken to the streets of Dumfries for the All Under One Banner (AUOB) march and as always, there's some fantastic coverage of the event on Twitter.
Those in attendance started in the town centre before making their way to Dock Park.

Last month's AUOB march in Glasgow attracted around 60,000 and while not nearly as many were expected this time, it appears to be a very healthy turnout. Nithsdale Police has estimated that as many as 10,000 people have turned out.

Now here's a point to ponder 🤔🤔 After our AUOB march in Glasgow, someone said to me that the cost to police the event was a joke 🤔 Now what about the Orange parades, which happen a hell of a lot more frequently than our gatherings!! What about the cost they incur 🤔🤷

If @RuthDavidsonMSP can get a mobile signal in her tank she might see these pictures coming from #AUOB #Dumfries today. Still think there's no appetite for self determination for Scotland? Think again.

My cautious estimate on the Dumfries AUOB March is half a million marchers...but I’ve had a Guinness.
— Ron Culley (@Iblogtoglasgow) June 2, 2018
No cameras from news outlets that I could see but I’d bet they’d estimate a forlorn forty followers.
A great showing. Terrific respect for the organisers. pic.twitter.com/qBuRisxcvt

I genuinely believe Independence for Scotland is not so far away now. Something is stirring around the country, demonstrated by super numbers ar recent AUOB marches. 🏴
— the lost highway (@thelosthighway2) June 2, 2018
Let's make sure that we stress that Independence is not about party politics, for now. That will come after Independence is secured.#AUOB

I therefore look forward to their Tweets of appreciation to the #AUOBDumfries march today, which would have done wonders for that region’s economy. #AUOB
I've long envied #Catalonia's ability to put masses of pro-indy people on the streets. And the past three years have seen some pretty thin #Yes marches tbh. But there's a distinct change this year. #AUOB

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
