AS the Brexit saga rumbles on, the damage it could do to Scotland has become increasingly clear. Plus, Scotland voted to remain.

In recognition of this, the Scottish Government (and Northern Ireland) set out a proposal to stay in the single market. It solves the Irish border issue, and let's England and Wales have their Brexit.

Thanks to the wonders of Westminster "democracy", it looks very unlikely the UK will permit us that wish – but the proposal has just received some big-name backing.

The EU's chief negotiator, Guy Verhofstadt, was addressing the UK's Brexit committee.

SNP MP Joanna Cherry asked the EU's Brexit co-ordinator for his thoughts on the Scottish Government's position. Here's what he had to say:

Verhofstadt's reactions says it all – the EU can see the sensible position coming from Scotland.

It's another example of the democratic outrage Brexit is inflicting upon Scotland.
