SCOTTISH affordable housebuilder Springfield Properties has been given planning consent for 100 new homes in North Lanarkshire.

The plans, approved by North Lanarkshire Council, will transform a 9.7 acre-site in Harthill into a mix of two, three and four-bedroom affordable homes.

The £13 million scheme supports the Scottish Government’s pledge to deliver 50,000 affordable homes by 2021, and adds to the 641 affordable homes Springfield Properties have already had approved for planning across Scotland this year.

Group partnerships managing director at Springfield, Tom Leggeat, said: “The new development is in a great location. It is close to the M8 so is particularly handy for those commuting to Glasgow, Edinburgh and neighbouring towns.

“The construction will bring job opportunities to Harthill and much needed, energy efficient homes that are modern and cheap to run.”
