A new group of Pensioners for Independence has been launched in the Big County, and will have its first meeting just up the road at Dundee at next Saturday’s All Under One Banner march and rally for independence.
The group tells us they consist of pension age citizens working to publicise to retired Scots the reasons why we believe that Scotland and Scots would fare much better if Scotland were independent, and able to control all of it’s own affairs here in Scotland.

They add: “By Scots, we mean anyone who chooses to live in Scotland, contributing to our society and our national culture.
“We are told that there are a large number of pensioners in Perthshire who are in receipt of final salary, index-linked pensions, whilst there are many single pensioners, mainly women, whose sole source of income is the state pension.
“At the 2014 referendum, both these groups were conservative, with a small c, in their voting and mainly voted No because wealthier pensioners felt that the economic and currency questions had not been answered fully, whilst many totally dependent state pensioners succumbed to the black propaganda that their pensions would be cut off if Scotland voted Yes.

“Between now and the next referendum, Perthshire Pensioners for Independence will listen to all pensioners and attempt to honestly answer their queries. It is intended to hold meetings throughout Perthshire.
“Our first meeting is at the Dundee All Under One Banner march and rally, (see AUOB on Facebook) on Saturday 18th August. We welcome like-minded pensioners to join us there.
“Look out for the banner and come over and introduce yourself.”

Meanwhile Yes Kirkcaldy have issued an appeal for help to crowdfund a new hub in the town.
They told us: “We are planning on opening a new YesHub in central Kirkcaldy. Premises have been identified, and the deal is done.
“We will need approximately £600 a month to operate. It is to be staffed by volunteers. If you want to help staff it we will be issuing details at a later date.
“The purpose will be to promote and further the cause of independence. It would serve as a hub for campaigns and a place those seeking information can come. We will also have merchandise on sale, as well as the usual give-aways. We aim to open by September.
“Like all Yes groups, YesKirkcaldy is a group from all political parties and none. It is the umbrella group for the Kirkcaldy Holyrood constituency and takes in other local Yes Groups. Please give what you can, and help us to win a majority Yes vote.”
