A GROUP of Yes supporters is planning to hold a demonstration at October's SNP conference, urging Nicola Sturgeon to take action on a second independence referendum.

It comes after a draft agenda suggested that independence and the key question of when a new referendum should be held will not be debated at the event.

But according to a report in today's Herald, scores of independence supporters are planning to use the conference to push for another vote.

They will urge the First Minister to use her "triple-lock" mandate to call another referendum.

Sturgeon said before winning a majority of Scottish seats at the last UK General Election that in doing so she would be securing a mandate for another independence referendum.

However, the draft agenda for the upcoming conference has left some Yes supporters frustrated.

The demonstration is being arranged by Scotland Land of the Brave Saor Alba and, at the time of writing, according to the event's Facebook page 70 people have confirmed their intention to attend while another 216 are interested.

An SNP spokesperson said: “As the First Minister has made clear, she will provide an update this autumn. Given the Tories’ shambolic mishandling of things, the terms of Brexit are currently far from clear – but it is positive to see people from across the country continue to campaign passionately for independence.”
