SCOTTISH stars are Still Game for the final series of the homegrown sitcom hit – and are to appear in its last-ever episodes.

Singers Amy MacDonald and Midge Ure are amongst famous fans set for Craiglang cameos.

Singer and actress Clare Grogan, and DJ Des Clarke will also join the cast in the ninth series of the much-loved show.

And TV cops Martin Compston and James McPherson – of Line of Duty and Taggart – are to take on one-off character roles.

Filming on the series began last week at BBC Scotland’s Dumbarton Studios. The six-week shoot will also see scenes shot in locations across Glasgow. Revealing the guest cast list, BBC Scotland said audiences can expect a “must-see” finale for the show, which first hit screens in 2002.

When it returned in 2016 after a nine-year hiatus it became the most-watched TV programme in over a decade, attracting1.3 million viewers.

Thousands attended sell-out live dates at the Hydro in Glasgow.

Midge Ure, who filmed his scenes earlier this week, said his star turn “supersedes the OBE”, adding: “Being in Still Game is like the comedy version of getting a Blue Peter badge. If you’re going to be humiliated, it might as well be in a comedy you love.”
