The Betfair website is now offering gamblers evens for Scottish independence, while a No vote is down at 8/11.

Betway still have a No vote out in front. They’re offering odds of 4/6 against independence to 11/10 for leaving the UK.

Oddschecker spokesman George Elek said: “A new wave of betting support for independence has swept over the UK, with punters quick to stake their hard-earned cash on Scotland leaving the Union.

“There has been lots of talk in the last couple of years about ‘regrexit’, but could it be the case that those north of the Border wish they had voted differently in their own independence referendum?

“Punters think that, given a second vote, Scots could well remove themselves from the UK.”

It comes after a dramatic new poll revealed that voters would support Scotland becoming an independent nation if a second referendum was held after Brexit.

The public opinion survey, published by a pro-Europe campaign group, found a majority of people in Scotland would back Yes if a plebiscite was held once the UK quits the European Union.

The Best for Britain poll found 47% of Scots would support independence, 43% would opt to stay part of the Union, while 10% didn’t know. Removing “don’t knows”, the result was 52% Yes, and 48% No. If the UK stayed part of the EU, the figures were reversed.
