Bargain Hunt BBC1, 12.15pm
THIS is BBC Music Day and to mark it (and make 1990s indie kids feel very old) two bands are going head to head. Yes, Jarvis Cocker and Candida Doyle of Pulp are taking on Mark “Bez” Berry and Rowetta Satchell of the Happy Mondays to see who can make the most profit at auction (with all proceeds going to charity, of course). They’ll be let loose with two experts and £300 at the Kent County showground. Meanwhile, presenter Charlie Ross visits a legendary recording studio in Wales.

Rameses, Moses and Murder: Revealed, C5, 7pm
MOSES is among the biblical figures who seem to most appeal to filmmakers, but while we’ve had the blockbusting versions of his story, this documentary explores its historical roots. It looks at Rameses the Great, the third pharoah of the 19th dynasty of Egypt, as well as the legend of Moses who, as a baby, was placed in a basket by his mother and left to float down the Nile to avoid a decree that every first-born male child be killed. Later, Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt.

Golf: Ryder Cup Highlights BBC2, 8.30pm
EUROPE’S golfers are going into a home Ryder Cup as underdogs for the first time in a while, with many pundits believing the star-studded, Major-laden American team will comfortably retain the trophy in Paris. But as all golf fans will tell you, things are never that straightforward in this biennial clash of continents, and you can almost guarantee there’ll be high drama in France before the result is decided on Sunday. This programme features highlights of the opening foursomes and afternoon fourballs.

Celebrity MasterChef, BBC1, 8.30pm
THE three remaining celebrities take part in the final. Their penultimate challenge is the most daunting of the competition: the chef’s table. This year it will be hosted by the critically acclaimed Bryn Williams. The trio will be working out of his new restaurant, Bryn Williams at Somerset House, cooking for an exceptional gathering of some of the country’s best chefs. Back at base, they must cook and present a three-course meal for judgment by John Torode and Gregg Wallace.
