SNP MPs sang Flower of Scotland and Scots Wha Hae in the House of Commons as part of opposition MP protests.

Some MPs from other parties held signs with "silenced" written on them while others shouted "shame on you" while the prorogation ceremony got under way last night.

The UK is due to leave the EU on October 31 regardless of whether or not a deal is secured.

However, new legislation passed yesterday now forces the Prime Minister to either read a deal with the EU or else request an extension.

As the ceremony got under way last night, SNP MPs began singing Scots Wha Hae, considered by some as an alternative national anthem.
