SCOTLAND has recorded no new deaths among people who recently tested positive for Covid-19, the latest government data shows.

It is the second day in a row that no new deaths have been recorded but registration offices are generally closed at weekends, meaning the figure could be an underestimate.

A total of 232 new positive cases were recorded in the past 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 2.5%.

The positivity rate has risen slightly since yesterday, when it was 1.6%. However, it still remains well below the World Health Organisation threshold of 5%, which indicates a pandemic is under control.

A total of 104 people were in hospitals across Scotland yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19, a reduction of five, and of those patients 14 were in intensive care, a fall of four.

A total of 2,747,694 people have now received the first dose of a vaccine and 757,115 have received their second dose.

Since the start of the outbreak, a total of 1,882,908 people in Scotland have been tested at least once and 223,914 people have tested positive.
