IT has been a busy week in Scottish politics as Humza Yousaf won the SNP leadership contest, was voted in as First Minister, and introduced a new Cabinet.

In our 12th episode, political reporters Abbi Garton-Crosbie and Steph Brawn take you through the week with some behind the scenes gossip and insight as the Scottish Government sees a “changing of the guard”.

Our journalists also discuss the limbo weekend leading into the announcement of Yousaf as the winner of the SNP leadership contest, inside the Scottish Parliament during the vote to install him as FM, and how the rest of the week unfolded.

Elsewhere, our reporters analysed Yousaf’s first FMQs, the five disruptions caused by climate protesters, and how the new FM fared against Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross and Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar.

They also dissected the recent Cabinet appointments, which for the first time saw a majority of women placed in the top Scottish Government jobs, as well as our exclusive interview with minister for independence Jamie Hepburn, shortly after he was formally appointed to the role.

The show will be available to listen to on the Omny streaming platform, Spotify and The National’s website each Friday. You can hear Episode 12 below.
