A NEW tartan has been unveiled as part Scotland's bid at the 2024 European Football Championship.

Scottish vlogger Craig Ferguson, 20, will be wearing the tartan as he walks to Munich to coincide with the opening game of the competition. Ferguson is raising money for Brothers in Arms, a Scottish charity who are dedicated to reducing male suicide.

The design was created by Slanj Kilts, who are donating 20% of all Euro tartan sales to the charity, and includes a hidden detail.

The concept behind the design is said to be "a vibrant homage to Scotland's Euros achievement; each thread of the tartan weaves together the team's footballing journey".

The flags of Scotland's Group A opponents – Germany, Switzerland, and Hungary - are all included in the design, while the dark blue backdrop echoes the iconic colours of the Scottish football strip.

The National:

Ferguson is setting off on May 4 from Hampden Park, to tackle a massive 1000 miles on foot.

He said: "I'm so excited to share the incredible journey I'm about to embark on. It's not just a walk - it's a mission to make a difference.

"I will be taking on one of the longest ever solo charity walks in a bid to raise as much funds as possible.

The National:

"I am so grateful to Slanj for making me a bespoke kilt for my journey. Everyone has been so supportive, but this was the cherry on the top. Raising funds for men's mental health while proudly representing Scotland in a euros kilt is a dream come true."

He added: "Training is going really well and I'm over 70% of the way to my fundraising target, so it's all coming together nicely.

“I set off this time next month and will be flying the flag for Scotland and men's mental health every step of the way."
